Recently, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas. I’m going to share other posts about our experience, but the first one I wanted to write was about the helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon. Talk about amazing!
I’ll admit it upfront: I was a little nervous. I’d never been in a helicopter before, and the idea of flying over the desert and into the Grand Canyon scared me! But I ended up loving every second of it.

In the Helicopter!
We chose Papillon Helicopters for our tour. They picked us up at one of their many stops right across the street from our hotel. We got to the terminal, checked in, got a quick rundown, strapped into our helicopter and then we were off!
The takeoff was smooth and the views of the city were incredible. As we flew over the desert, I was taken aback by its raw beauty from this viewpoint. And the mountains! Oh the mountains! We also flew over Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Our pilot was also our tour guide as he gave us fun facts about each area of interest and answered all of our random questions about its history.

Hoover Dam
The real wow moment came as we approached the Grand Canyon itself. Flying over it is one thing, but we chose the Grand Celebration Tour which actually lands at the bottom of the canyon! We had about 30 minutes to explore, take in the scenery, and enjoy a little champagne picnic they provided.

Exploring the Grand Canyon
If you’re ever in Vegas and looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I highly recommend the Papillon Helicopters Grand Celebration Tour. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to see the Grand Canyon in a way that very few people get to.
